Romaine Lathouwers



Romaine was 85 when she died peacefully at her home June 29, 2008. Born in Chicago, IL, she moved to Naples in 1971 and lived in the Naples Estates with her husband Joe for 30 years. Joe died in 1993. She retired from United Telephone in 1989. She loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a avid and skilled bridge player, enjoyed cards, bingo and casinos. She particularly enjoyed performing in many Naples Estates plays and musicals. She had a knack for comedy. She was "Mrs. Santa Claus" for the Naples Jaycees for 13 years and held numerous offices for the Homeowners Association for several years. She celebrated her 80th birthday in Las Vegas and her 85th birthday at Marco Island with her family from Texas, California and Wyoming and even London, England. She is survived by her sons, Ron Lathouwers of California and Cliff (Pat) Lathouwers of Texas; daughterin-lawMary (Lloyd) Raeg of California; grandchildren, Lynn Lathouwers, Ryan Lathouwers, Jill (Nick) Gabbard, Sarah Raeg, Cris (John) McIver, Colleen Barbee, Kevin Lathouwers, John Lathouwers, Kayte Lathouwers; greatgrandchildren, Bryson Mciver, Alexis Barbee, Jaeden Barbee and Ethan Borns. Private services will be held at Bay Pines Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL at a later date. In her memory, please go out of your way today to do something nice or special for someone else...that kindness is what she always had in her heart
